Now the latest Fiber Art for A Cause fundraiser One organized by Virginia Spiegal hits even closer to home for us fiber artists, with one of our nearest and dearest presently battling the disease herself.
It occurred to me, that the two mixed media fiber art pieces I made for the auction, now have so much more significance for me not only because my good friend Melly has cancer, but also because both of my collages have bird imagery on them and those of you who know Melly and are familiar with her work, know that she adores birds. This simple synchronicity warms my heart.
So please mark your calendar on Februry 16 to make a bid on a peice of artwork and contribute to this very worthy cause.
Please tell Melly that she is in my thoughts and prayers. I will continue to pray for her return to health.
I have taken classes with Melly at the IQF in Chicago.
She is a warm and nice person.
Your collages are beautiful. I also enjoyed the synchronicity. I hope everyone thinks healing thoughts for Melly as they open their hearts to help One Cause exceed Virginia's expectations. Have a wonderful week.ReplyDelete
Hiya please pass on my warmest thoughts for Melly during her journey. One of the pieces of advice I was given through my own journey was to allow myself to have bad days. Please tell her the same.ReplyDelete
many hugs Annette
Please pass on my good wishes for Melly Testa's well being. I am thoroughly saddened to hear the challenge she is currently facing with cancer.ReplyDelete
You have my good wishes as well, Judy, because it is hard watching someone you love have to go through cancer.
I send love, thoughts, prayers, and hugs to both of you and your families as well. God bless and keep you all.
Sending healing thoughts to Melly, who I don't know except from her wonderful published work, and to you and her many friends who will surely support her through this difficult period.ReplyDelete
Lovely piece you made -all the more meaningful now. Read about Melly on Leslie's Blog http://leslietuckerjenison.blogspot.com/2011/01/beautiful-words-in-difficult-times.htmlReplyDelete
there is a very thoughtful post on Melly's blog by Leslie and how we can help make hats and scarves for Melly;
Lots of prayers are heading Melanie's way. Your bird collage is beautiful and such a fitting tribute. Have a peaceful and blessed weekend.ReplyDelete
Dear Judy, I have been spending a great deal of time today discovering your blog. I am a watercolor artist in downstate Champaign-Urbana and have seen your work in CPS magazine. Your art makes me happy--the colors sing and the detailing is amazing. There is a delightful combination of whimsy and soul. I am grateful that you share your talents and processes with us. Lately I've been doing watercolors with a Tree of Life theme, and am interested in trying a paper quilt. Can you recommend a book or source to give instructions?ReplyDelete
Best of luck with your art and thoughts and prayers your way as you help your friend through her cancer treatment.
I would recommend the book Stitch Alchemy by Kelly Nina Perkins, its all about combining paper and fabric for quilted and stitched projects. Kelly's work is bright, colorful, festive and gorgeous. You can check out her blog at http://ephemeralalchemy.blogspot.com and also look at Jane LaFazio's work at http://www.JaneVille.blogspot.com
it's a small intimate world - i'm so glad that we can connect in ways to send our thoughts and prayers when they are so needed...ReplyDelete
Judy, I cried after reading your post. ONE has, indeed, taken on a more personal meaning with the news about Melly. The fact that your pieces include birds is so perfect.ReplyDelete
Each of my pieces is a love letter to Melly, as well as other loved ones who have done battle with cancer. I know you feel the same way.
