Hanging with the Chicago School of Fusing

Today the Chicago School of Fusing hung a show at the Bloomingdale Park District Museum that will coincide with an exhibit from Quilt National.

It was a fun morning with lots of laughter, gorgeous quilts and flying hammers. Followed by lunch chatting about blogging, teaching and traveling in this new economy where airlines are unstable and charging extra for baggage. Imagine how much harder it is for busy traveling teachers who fly with several bags that tip the scales getting to their venues when airlines are also canceling flights.

From left to right, next to me is Anne Lullie, Frieda Anderson, Laura Wasilowski, Emily Parson and Anne Fahl. The hammer came in handy, I only had to threaten them a little to let me hang my quilts with theirs.
It's a lovely exhibit. If you are in the area July 20th stop by the reception, it would be nice to say hi.

  1. Thank you for the info on the show. I was just about to put my quilt guilds newsletter to bed when I saw this. I added it because I knew many would be interested. Laura Wasilowski will be coming to our guild in a couple of Wednesday so I'm sure she would have mentioned, but many of our members don't always get to the meeting. Can't wait to go see it.

  8. WOW. I WISH I could get there to see it in person.

Do you ever get out to the Southwest (Santa Fe, NM)? Would you be interested in teaching a workshop for our art quilt guild? We would LOVE to have you.

  9. Hi Claudia,

It really is a beautiful show, I don't think I have seen so many great quilts in one place. The quilt national exhibit is the best I have seen in years and the CSOF, well, there is no lack of color and gorgeous imagery in that exhibit.

I would love to come to the SW (ooh and especially Santa Fe) have someone from your guild email me, the link is on my profile page.
