On Saturday at 3:00, I will be leading an MIU workshop making an embossed metal cover pop up origami book.
Using aluminum craft metal, simple embossing, alcohol inks and paper we will create a fun little art book, using the fundamentals of origami to create expanding pop up pages. These are so cool, easy to make and they make awesome little gifts.
Kelli Nina Perkins will also be in Make it U, doing open studios and she has two workshops.
Whimsical Cartoon Pins, friday at 10:30 am. Don't these make you smile?
Vintage Poetry Spools, Saturday at 1:30 pm
Kelli will also be doing book signings for her wonderful book Stitch Alchemy.
Check out the Make It U schedule here.

ReplyDeleteI wish I was going... I won't be going to MQS this year either. I'm going to Market in Minneapolis instead. I'm excited but disappointed in everything else I will be missing out on.
ReplyDeleteI wish I was going. I would love to take a class with you someday. I don't think I've ever seen anything you made that I didn't LOVE!! You are just amazing and I'm so happy that you share your work with all of us.
ReplyDeleteI have to say that those vintage poetry spools are just about the coolest thing I've seen lately. Very inspiring!
Looking forward to seeing you there, Judy. It'll be great to be in Chicago!

I'll be there on Sunday...hope you don't mind the plug! I'm teaching "Create Texture and Dimension with Gauze" for MIU, Sunday at noon. Our local art walk was the same weekend last year, so I couldn't get in, but am excited about this year! My Open Studios is Sunday also at 10:30 am. - shisha mirror embroidery.
ReplyDeleteI know I don't have to tell you to have a blast. Sorry I'll miss seeing you Friday and Saturday...
Have a great time! Looks like loads of fun!
ReplyDeleteThis is torture. I'd love to go, but we are heading off to Hawaii. So that I don't feel so badly, I've packed some Lutrador and Liquitex paints to play with. I think I need to find some more supplies to go with me and then I won't feel so badly about missing your sessions and IQF. Any recommendations for what supplies I should take (not too large or heavy)?
