Photo of a rose

This is the original photo.
Using Photoshop I cropped the photo, created two duplicate layers of the image and made adjustments to each. I increased the saturation, adjusted the contrast, selected individual colors and adjusted them for color and saturation, then erased parts of one layer to reveal parts of the other layer.
With this photo I created two more duplicate layers and made one layer a sepia tone. Then I selected the eraser tool with reduced opacity and removed the top layer partially to bring up subtle color from the image below. Then I added a vintage camera lens filter and multiplied the image.

really cool, judy! i like how you cropped to focus on that central star formed by the sepals. nature offers so many details, just out there patiently waiting for us to notice.

I love what you did in Photoshop with the rose photo. Both resulting images are beautiful. I can't wait to see what you ultimately do with them!

  7. I like to play with the photos in photoshop, adjusting the colors and altering the look and mood of the photos for no other purpose than to see what I can do with them. Things like this often inspire my other work in subtle ways, maybe a shape or color triggers an idea for another unrelated project.

  8. This afternoon I cleaned off my balcony of the dead plants and I thought about these pictures and our life cycles...how some die and come back and others don't.
