I had an idea a couple weeks ago to create a workshop for making a mixed media art apron to be worn when ever one is being creative and working with messy stuff.
Because the whole surface of the apron is covered with paint it is extremely durable and can be wiped clean.
I used a blank white chefs apron as a base and collaged, painted, then collaged again and stitched. I folded up the bottom edge to make handy pockets to hold tools and tea front and center.
This is far too beautiful to risk getting splashed!!!
ReplyDeleteNah, I already spilled tea on it and just wiped it away. Any paint that gets on it will only increase the patina, lol.
ReplyDeleteAny chance you'll be wearing this gorgeous apron to Open Studios? If you are, I'll simply have to have a picture...
ReplyDeleteSee you at MIU, Judy!
Hi Julaine,
ReplyDeleteI will be wearing it there. I will be doing Friday and Saturday afternoons with my sister Deb who was with me last year. I look forward to seeing you.
My mom wore a plastic/vinyl apron for throwing pots but it was never as colorful as this! We must be on neighboring wave lengths because I was thinking of using a quilted 'piece' [something that started out as batik scraps] for a chair back. I will go blog about it so it makes more sense and doesn't use up all your space here...?:)
ReplyDeleteWow, love the apron. It is so you! I really love your colours, they are so bright & cheerful. Wish I had your painting skills.
ReplyDeleteWow, this is really pretty. When I think of aprons, this is not the visual image I have. Great job.
