I'm a cover girl!
Wow, my first cover! This is the issue that has the first of a two part project on making these houses. This article explains the painting process for making the collaged and painted fabric. I love how they added the birds and nests for the photo, so cute!

ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Can't wait to read it!
ReplyDeleteBoy that looks really great. I've subscribed now, so hopefully that will be the first issue that I'll be getting in the mail.
ReplyDeleteThey looked amazing in the magazine. (And my thought was, "What an imaginative artist...")

ReplyDeleteAnd I thought I'd have an issue I didn't have to buy, ah...dreams of being thrifty. The houses look so delicious, I've got to make one.
ReplyDeleteI have seen several covers of QA magazine that have intrigued me, but none have thrilled me to the extent that your cover did when I got my magazine today! WOW! I read your blog regularly and you never fail to post something of interest-thanks so much and please keep making your beautiful art!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh Patsy, thanks I am so flattered!
ReplyDeleteGreat Cover and article.
ReplyDeleteAnd I got the Quilting Arts TV DVD last week, also. Great job!!
Congratulations JCP! That's so exciting. Good luck braving all the papparazzi when you head over to Mr. Gyros. I'm going straight over to YouTube to post a "Just leave Judy Alone!" video. xoxoxo you da bomb. (do people still say that? What about cool people?) cp
ReplyDeleteWhen I was browsing the magazine section of my local book store, I spotted a bird house on the cover of Quilting Arts and thought "Hey, that looks like something Judy Coates Perez would make!" Well, imagine my surprise when I opened the mag to see that it WAS your birdhouse! I was so excited for you, Judy! I can't even begin to imagine how you must be feeling! Cloud nine, I bet!! Kudos!
ReplyDeleteJust got my copy in the mail, and I've already read your article half a dozen times. I can't wait to get started on the project! Congratulations on a great article and on a beautiful cover.
ReplyDeleteMichele, Thanks! I hope you and anyone else who does the project sends me pictures I would love to see what everyone does.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your article in cloth, paper, scissors! It was very inspiring! Please, what is PFD fabric? Thanks! Amy
ReplyDeleteamydolls@citcom.net
Hi Amy, Thanks.
ReplyDeletePFD means prepared for dyeing. The fabric does not have any finishes or sizing in it. You can prepare fabric that is not PFD by washing it in hot water with a small amount of detergent. Fabric that is not PFD may cause problems with the paint bonding to the cloth. If a drop of water beads up on the surface of the fabric it is not PFD.
Yippee! I just got my copy today, can't wait to read your article. I already knew it was going to be great when I saw the cover. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations :)
