Wheel of Time, detail, 1999 Judy Coates Perez |
This year there is a very rare lunar eclipse coinciding with the solstice, the last one occurred in 1638. The moon will completely be in shadow at 2:15 am central time, unfortunately here in Chicago it will be snowing, so we won’t get to see it, but knowing it's happening is pretty cool and maybe it will make the idea of creating new ways of being more meaningful.
I have never been one to make new years resolutions, thinking that I should always strive to be the best self I can be, but maybe this year I will give it some extra thought, concidering my life these days is all about new begnnings.
Happy solstice to you!
I didn't know about the lunar eclipse this year. Very cool. And I love your "Wheel of Time" piece. Many happy beginnings to you, Judy!
ReplyDeleteHappy, Peaceful, and Warm Solstice to you and All! I have been having a very creative burst of energy lately; maybe that has something to do with this..? And not just creative thinking; also doing...
ReplyDeleteLove your art! We're hoping to go night skiing tomorrow night. We've been having clear skies but that's also meant that the temps have been hovering around 0. I'd take a snowstorm instead of clear skies, it would bring warmer weather up here :o)
ReplyDeleteHappy Solstice to you and yours. So much power in the lunar eclipse/full moon/solstice event tonight. I am writing down some intentions for the coming season as it seems to be the perfect time for it. I prefer intentions to resolutions as it seems less....severe. What a great start to the quiet time of winter.
ReplyDeleteIntentions is a much better term Gilli, resolutions feel like if you don't live up to them you have some how failed. I guess that's why I have never been fond of making them. Intentions I can live with every day, I like that!
ReplyDeleteor - you could make reverse resolutions. Go back over the year and find things you've accomplished and list them as though you had written them as goals at the beginning of the year.
ReplyDeleteEither way - reflection at any time is good. And - I believe that if you choose what you want - write it down and put it "out there" that (I call it God) or the Universe will help you make it happen.
I love you. I love your work!
You are an amazing person. It's going to be a good year!

Thank you for such a beautiful post...I was thinking of you the other day when I decorated the Christmas tree and I hung the sun ornament (metal and fabric) I got from you in Hou a couple of years ago. It made me
ReplyDeletesmile when I found it among my treasures. Happy Holidays to you and your family
Happy Solstice and Intentions to you. Thank you so much for the patterns from your giveaway which arrived Monday. Your work is so inspiring. We also had cloudy skies, so no eclipse visibility either. Happy Holidays!
ReplyDeleteJudy, I think of you often and hope that things are going really well for you and your kids. There is so much beauty and power in your work, I can't imagine that you will experience anything but success in the coming year. It's so nice to keep up with you through your blog.
