Amy Tan: Where does creativity hide?

Have you ever watched the fantastic videos from the TED conferences? There are some really great lectures on a variety of topics on the TED website. I just listened to about a dozen fascinating lectures while painting. Here is a great lecture on Creativity by Amy Tan (The Joy Luck Club), I think it is fascinating learning about the sources of different artist's creativity. The description for her lecture is:

Novelist Amy Tan digs deep into the creative process, journeying through her childhood and family history and into the worlds of physics and chance, looking for hints of where her own creativity comes from. It's a wild ride with a surprise ending.

It is only 20 minutes, if you have time take a look.

hi judy, can't tell you how much i enjoy all the inspiration i find here on your blog.

this amy tan video is great! i'd heard her interviewed on NPR once, and learned she usually doesn't travel "alone", so all through this video i kept wondering if her tote bag contained what i suspected... yes!!! how fun.

her comments about "filters" & serendipity & awareness are thought provoking. it's something i have often wondered about, how it is that i can be this old and only now noticing amazing "new" things that have actually been there all along.

enjoy your chicago springtime... i lived there in the suburbs for 11 years, and the chicago botanic garden up in glencoe was a favorite spring haunt!

    thanks again, luanne

  3. Thanks Luanne,

creativity and inspiration is often on my mind and I assume most other artists. So when I come across something that speaks to me I figure someone else might get something out of it too.

I am enjoying the warmer weather! This winter felt really long. The novelty of it has begun to wear off, lol.
